Jessica Fontenot
Jessica is curious about our everyday surroundings—buildings, highways, trucks, etc. She captures these subjects to reveal the inherent beauty of our modern world that we often ignore.
She began watercoloring in 2016 when creating One Year of Buildings, a series of 365 watercolor drawings of buildings, mostly in Austin where she lived at the time. This project led to illustrating for clients like TXDOT, Austin Energy, and many local hotels, restaurants, and magazines. In 2021, she moved from Austin to Taos after visiting many times and always feeling at home here.
In 2024, she traveled through Europe for 200 days making a watercolor drawing everyday of a building from wherever she was that day. Jessica explores how place lives in our memory and emotions—and how every bit of our world holds a story for someone, somewhere.
